    Meanwhile I like to listen to the tick tock of my old travel alarmclock which is still halfish mechanic. It's really great to go from for example 3:4 breathing to 4:7 breahing (in:out) or even slower, and it's absolutely objective because each tick is one second. The ratio is probably always very personal, but with the tick tock you can reduce your breathing rate individually and objectively. As far as I know the idea is to engage the parasympatic system by reducing the breaths per minute under seven.

    It is really helpful, I've done this but never thought of it like this. I think it has to do with being more conscious of your breathing, when we start to become conscious of our breathing we try to breathe in more deeply and try to control it more, but notice the natural state of breathing( when u are not conscious of it) is much less intense and way lighter than we realize. Hence, I think ( I personally have tried and it works) that trying to breathe in less and trying to not breathe in as much kind of puts in a state of our natural breathing pattern. I'm 18 and it quite annoying to be having panic attacks but this has been a tool that has helped me managed my anxiety and panic attacks..

    First time, when I tried this technique I felt some calming sensations, and after some time I got shortage of breath, but I didn’t stop, instead I followed the process and it allowed me to breath in a flow of “breath of fire”. I have tried breath of fire before, but this time it “happened” with natural unstoppable force, not too long. then maybe after 2 minutes it slowed down and was able to continue with the technique described here. Looking forward to try this out again.

  • @danwinter1206

    Should the breath be fairly shallow with this technique? I can slow my breath way down, but still take a very deep breath, but its so slow that I still feel like i am taking in less than normal - a little bit of air hunger, i think. I like this because it gives me a deep internal stretch of my rib cage, and is relaxing. But is this not recommended in the buteyko technique?

    • @thebuteykomethod
      @thebuteykomethod 20 годин тому

      Hey @danwinter1206, for this technique, yes the breathing should be light without deeper breaths. There is a variation which allows for a little more diaphragmatic activation here: ua-cam.com/video/MkscOWI8aNc/v-deo.html

    I’m so confused! I always thought shallow breathing was harmful.. I’ve been doing breathwork for over 6 months now and the benefits have been life changing. I was an IV fentanyl user and thanks to breathwork and a spiritual practice I’ve been liberated. Are the benefits actually from the oxygen deprivation during breath retentions then?? What about all the studies done on the Wim Hoff method? Doesn’t his breathing method involve hyper oxygenation? He has accomplished super human feats doing his style of breathing.. not to mention all the bad that many sources confirm regarding hypoxia… less oxygen is not good I thought. I copied and pasted a quick internet search on hypoxia below. (It doesn’t look good!) “Hypoxia, or low oxygen levels in the body's tissues, can cause a number of dangerous effects: Organ damage When oxygen supply is insufficient, vital organs like the brain, heart, liver, and kidneys can be damaged, which can impair their function and lead to long-term health problems. Cognitive impairment Prolonged hypoxia can result in cognitive deficits, memory problems, difficulties with concentration and attention, and overall cognitive impairment. Cell death When cells don't get enough oxygen, the mitochondria can't produce the ATP needed to pay the molecules inside the cell to do their jobs. This can lead to uncontrolled cell swelling, hydrolysis of main cellular components, and eventually to cell necrosis. “

    I was finding myself falling asleep at the wheel or at least fighting it with your breath, slowing technique in the previous video, I tried this technique and into my surprise. It actually woke me up a bit. Maybe it’s the pressure of the air being compressing your nostrils?

    • @thebuteykomethod
      @thebuteykomethod 20 годин тому

      Hey @tjacksondolph4026, Buteyko increases CO2 in the blood which stimulates both branches of the nervous system, so it can sometimes feel makes us feel sleepy or wake is up. (either way, not to be done while driving 😉)

  • @jedmcdonald4695
    @jedmcdonald4695 День тому

    Yes from what I understand breathing slower allows for more exchange of gases and the co2 in the blood stream is important for stimulating us to breathe deeply. Through doing in martial arts and landscaping I’ve noticed it is also natural when flexing and carrying heavy objects. The muscle tension in the abdomen automatically slows the breathing.

    Breathing less means that your blood flows less through your body. This is not good! Now you are more likely to become seriously ill. You are accumulating the toxins in your body. Putting less poison into your body will be better. Blood ensures that the toxins are removed and then you get a headache and you can't think properly. You are not feeling well, but your body is healing. Pain = healing

      @thebuteykomethod 20 годин тому

      Thanks for sharing @obiblooze5902. Re Yawning. There are 2 possible reasons - 1. It could be that your nervous system is shifting into rest and digest mode triggering the yawn. 2. The purpose of the exercise is to gently elevate Carbon Dioxide in your blood which leads to improved blood flow and oxygen delivery to the brain - the body will try to blow off this CO2 by taking bigger breaths, yawning and sighing which prevents the exercise from working properly. So you could try again and resist the urge to yawn and see if it is more effective. Hope that helps 👍

    Also anyone dealing with brain fog…… make sure you get your teeth checked. I had 2 deep cavities and had them removed and I don’t have that issue anymore

    THANK YOU! My spine was ripped from my body in a horrific base jumping incident. By just breathing a little less 2-3 times a day, I am healed all thanks to you.

    This mimics where I allow my body to arrive at in very deep meditation, I noticed the breath organically turns into this pattern. Blessings! 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙

    PSA regarding brain fog: These two things cured my brain fog in like 2 weeks: - Regular movement/exercise that gets your heart rate up - Stopping eating bread and pasta I would highly recommend this to anyone suffering from brain fog
